Sleepy is a contemporary interpretation of an amusing icon of our collective childhood: the rocking chair. Graphical and boldfaced, the chair’s form is slender and sophisticated in premium solid hardwood, yet with a soft, playful spirit of childhood. Long associated with the elderly, the rocking chair has also been more akin to an amusement park ride for the kids. When we grow old, the memory should be rejuvenating. This is the paradox captured in Sleepy’s design. One of studio’s earliest creations, Sleepy was modified in 2005 with blind tufted seat and back cushion to provide sink-in comfort for prolonged periods of time.
