A timeless model that made design history and became a world-famous icon. The LC2 armchair, designed for comfortable conversation, was exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in Paris in 1929 as an archetype of the modern conception of furniture, understood by the authors as “domestic equipment”. The independence between the metal structure and the cushions is in line with the principles of rationalism, just as the separation between the parts follows the logic of industrial production by evoking the architectural relationship between the load-bearing cement structure and the tamponade elements. The balance between form and function stems from an in-depth study of body posture and the use of the Modulor, a system based on the typical measurements of the human body and a mathematical language related to the proportions of universal harmony.
