Limited and numbered edition. Alexander Girard’s Wooden Dolls are a family of carved figures, representing human and animal characters. Drawing inspiration from his own personal collection of folk art, Girard made these decorative objects for his home in Santa Fe in 1952. The original models belong to the Girard Estate, housed in the Vitra Design Museum, and serve as models for Vitra’s re-editions. In scale 4,15:1, the Wooden Doll No.1 and No.9 super large transform the decorative figures mignon in bold characters about 80cm high, which has a prominent role in any context. Like the smaller models, the super large Wooden Dolls are masterfully crafted and hand painted, with great fidelity to the original models by Alexander Girard. The super large Wooden Dolls are numbered and are limited to 1000 pieces for each model.
