Cassina continues to study the furnishings of the city of Chandigarh and adds the Civil Bench to the Hommage à Pierre Jeanneret Collection, which is distinguished by its essential forms and simple materials in a balance between modern European ideals and the traditional Indian spirit. The bench, designed between 1955 and 1956 for the living quarters and flats of the members of the Indian City Legislature, consists of a seat in three side-by-side elements, supported by a single frontal beam and two side supports positioned in the shape of an inverted ‘V’.
