An icon of 1950s Italian design and a symbol of innovation in terms of style, material and technology, the Lady armchair by Marco Zanuso has made history for its extraordinary construction modernity. Slender metal legs contrasting with comfortable upholstered parts are its signature style; a form of innovation, it is assembled separately with different densities of upholstery in each part. Presented at the 9th Milan Triennale in 1951 – where it won the gold medal, among other things – this armchair is an icon of modernity as it was the result of an important technical/material innovation.
