Airy, with construction details linked to the Japanese tradition, Torii’s stackable seats play with the roundness of volumes, the lightness of thicknesses and the apparent formal simplicity of a highly complex design.
In the construction of the metal structure of the legs of the seats and tables, Nendo refers to the image of the “torii”, the gateway to the Shinto shrines of Japan. With an interplay of joints, the horizontal elements rest on the vertical supports, providing a sophisticated visual lightness to accommodate the upholstered volume characterised by the couture appearance of the packaging.
