Gerrit Rietveld designed the Utrecht armchair in 1935, for the Metz & Co department store in Amsterdam, orienting the design in the perspective of expanded distribution. The Utrecht Armchair stands out for its constructivist design: volumes that are incorporated forming an original and futuristic seat. A soft and airy architecture, with a comfortable and soft seat and always sustained, synthesis of experimentation and comfort. A distinguishing feature of the armrests, whose geometric and angular lines contrast with the soft lines of the seat itself.
