Designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, and first exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in Paris in 1929, the LC4 is the chaise longue par excellence. Developed from an analysis of reclining chairs, it embodies the concept of relaxation by placing the person at the centre of the design. The seat remains stable at any inclination thanks to rubber-clad pedestal crosspieces that provide friction and support.
