An icon of Italian and global design, the Arco lamp was created by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1962 and remains one of the most imitated pieces in design history. Its striking base is crafted from a solid block of Carrara marble, serving both as a counterweight and a structural anchor. A practical central hole in the marble allows the lamp to be repositioned with ease using a broom handle. The elegant upper structure features a steel gyroscopic profile supporting an adjustable reflector, which is perforated at the top to dissipate heat efficiently. The Arco is celebrated for its timeless balance of sculptural presence and functional innovation.
