Barber & Osgerby devoted the same attention to the BUTTON TABLES as they did to TOBI-ISHI. Soft, calibrated shapes, accurate details. The cylindrical lacquered bases taper slightly at the bottom, smoothing their geometry. There are three versions, two with an oval top and one with a round top. All have marble tops, the raised edge of which resembles that of a tray. Softness and rigidity, juxtaposition of contrasting materials, and minimal details that create imperceptible movements in the development of the forms, are recurring themes in the work of the London duo, whose language is recognisable even when it comes to service furniture.
