Lyra first appeared entirely in leather in the Poltrona Frau catalogue of 1935, as a new version of an earlier model with velvet cushion from 1916, which was called Lira. Even in the 1935 replica, characterised by its rounded backrest and finished with a row of leather-covered studs, you can note the formal features of the Victorian drawing room, with a deep seat, comfortable armrests and a thick, very comfortable goose-down cushion. The rubberised horsehair upholstery is hand-laid on the biconical steel springs of the seat and backrest springs. The frame is made of seasoned beech.
