An important piece in Cassina’s collection, the Cab chair dates back to the golden age of Italian design. It was designed in 1977 by Mario Bellini who achieved international fame with this famous chair.
Cab is the world’s first self-supporting leather design chair, inspired by the direct relationship between skeleton and leather; an authentic exemple of manufacturing excellence that requires multiple stages and craftsmanship to create a cult object with a sartorial flavour. Capable of characterising a decade, Cab has long remained the model of the successful chair. Available without armrests or in an armchair version, it is made of tubular steel and fully upholstered in leather. Its upholstery consists of 21 leather parts, die-cut one by one and then subjected to 22 manual processing phases. Finally, the upholstery is fitted over a steel skeleton and closed with zips, just like putting on a tailor-made suit. Cab is available in a wide variety of colours.
